Here in Somerset we are lucky to have an amazing group of volunteers who run over 130 Active Living groups. Each group is unique.

• Active Living groups provide an opportunity to take part in local activities, enjoy the company of others, and access all sorts of information about keeping well and active.

• groups meet weekly for the most part but some meet daily or monthly ...continue 

• The Active Living ethos is around Staying Well, Staying Healthy, Staying Independent and Staying Safe

​HOW 'SOMERSET YOU CAN DO' SUPPORTS THE ACTIVE LIVING NETWORK

Somerset You can Do Services developed from the next-step volunteer bureau. We have been delivering services for Somerset County Council since 2008. Since the 1st August we have been responsible for providing support to the Active Living Network across Somerset. Some of the things we can do for you include:-

► Helping you to find volunteers
 We will help you to recruit and register volunteers if required

► Networking
We will re-instate regular cluster group meetings so that you can meet with other Active Living volunteers and exchange ideas and information. We will also develop other opportunities for networking locally.

► Sustainability and funding
We will help you develop ideas for the long term future of your group and to access other forms of funding if required

► Local contacts
We will provide you with a named point of contact within the SYcD team.  We will also be developing links with adult social care teams and fostering close links between the teams and the Active Living network

​► Promoting Active Living
We will promote the work of the Active Living Network, maintain and update the Active Living Website and advertise the Active Living Centres and their activities through the online Community Notice Board we have developed in partnership with Somerset Community Council

► Annual review and quarterly report
We will help you with the annual review and the quarterly reports

► Food hygiene
We will provide new volunteers who are involved in preparing and handling food with a food hygiene course and provide an update for any existing volunteers if required.
